2024 end of year recap
As we reflect on this year, we would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to you all for supporting CMY’s work in 2024. We would also like to acknowledge how challenging the year has been for many of the young people and communities we work alongside, with the global upheaval we have witnessed.
We wish you all a peaceful and relaxing end to the year, where you can take some time out for self-nurturing and connection with your loved ones.
CMY offices will be closing on Friday 20 December, reopening on Monday 6 January 2025.
2024 has been a huge year and we are proud of the progress we have made towards creating a society where multicultural young people are connected and empowered to reach their potential.
Some of the many highlights that have shaped the year at CMY include:
- Celebrating our 35 Year Anniversary with the launch of our history website which documents our impact over the past 35 Years of Shaping Culture
- Publishing our new family violence framework, “I need to know you’re safe” at a Statewide Forum attended by 180 participants from across various sectors
- Advocating around key issues that impact multicultural young people, in particular in Education, Youth Justice, Family Violence, Housing and Homelessness, Digital Participation and Anti-Racism
- Partnering on the annual Diversity and Inclusion in Sport (DISA) Forum, which focused on Intersectionality in Sport
- Amplifying the voices of young multicultural people in regional and rural areas, with award-winning youth podcasts Thrive Cast from Ballarat and Double Standards from Gippsland
- Designing and initiating a groundbreaking new Youth Justice Lived Experience Mentoring pilot project
- Launching our new Good Practice Guide, Getting It Right: Improving Co-Design Practice with Multicultural Young People
- Delivering a range of services, from our training and capability building, through to our youth-led business unit Culture Spring and working for a more inclusive sport sector through CMSport
- Hosting a range of important events, from our Seat at the Table symposium at Parliament House to the 10th Annual MY Education Awards and the end of year Volunteer Celebration
- Spotlighting the stories of multicultural young people, CMY staff, youth interns and volunteers who shape our work…
- And so much more!
We thank all of our partners, funders and supporters for their continued belief and support of the work we do here at CMY.
Most importantly, special thanks to the passionate staff, volunteers and young people who so generously share their insights, knowledge, skills and lived experience to help shape our future direction and focus.
Together, we’re changing the systems, attitudes and behaviours that will create a more inclusive society for young people of all multicultural backgrounds.
