“Data? It’s everything about you!” Collecting data with multicultural young people
Supplementary Report: Insights from newly-arrived young people
The importance of rigorous and quality data is a priority across all levels of government and services, however there are significant gaps in national level data relating to multicultural young people. These data gaps are exacerbated by data collection processes which can feel unsafe and unclear to young people from multicultural and refugee backgrounds, especially those who have recently arrived in Australia.
This report complements CMY’s research into data collection with multicultural young people in Victoria, titled “Data? It’s everything about you!”: Collecting data with multicultural young people. It provides additional insights from and considerations for collecting data with young people who have settled in Australia in the last five years.
This report summarises a series of consultations and focus groups held with young people from migrant and refugee backgrounds who are navigating, or have recently navigated, settlement in Australia and those working with them.
