Aspire to Lead is a targeted, term-long, strengths-based leadership program designed to re-engage students.

About the Program

Aspire to Lead is a targeted, term-long, strengths-based leadership program designed for students who are experiencing challenges engaging with the school and the education environment, with an aim to increase school connectedness and social cohesion.

At CMY we are firm believers that supporting students find their voice and develop their leadership skills will have a direct impact on improving their mental health. Aspire to Lead works with participants to develop student led solutions to the issues that negatively impact wellbeing, and lead to exclusion and disengagement from education.

Aspire to Lead is part of the Victorian Government Schools Mental Health Menu.

Objectives

Program objectives for participants include the development of skills in four areas:

  • project management
  • leadership
  • interpersonal
  • intrapersonal

The program is delivered over 10-weeks or an entire school term, facilitated by experienced youth workers. This strengths-based approach fosters leadership skills and cultivates the capacity for building positive relationships, while also enhancing social cohesion among young people in schools.

Tailored workshops and mentoring support students to design and lead a project, activity or event. The goal of the program is to foster a sense of belonging and connection to the student’s school community.

Delivery

Aspire to Lead program delivery encompasses:

  • 10 week program, including weekly 2hr workshops and culminating in a student-led event/project.
  • Up to 20 students per program, with participants selected by the school.
