Multicultural Leadership Workshop
Themed rounds are more than just waving a flag – it is about connecting with community, increasing education to workforce and improving awareness within a fan base. It has been great to establish a partnership with Melbourne United Basketball Club to provide outcomes that benefit the community and the Club leading into United’s Multicultural Festival on Sunday October 22.
Last week CMSport and the National Basketball League (NBL) supported the hosting of an event at United’s home base Hoop City that helped young people from multicultural communities improve their employment pathways. From an HR presentation highlighting the importance of networking, to an expert panel sharing diverse personal journeys and their varied paths to finding a job. These sessions were packaged up with a tour of the facility and a one-hour basketball session with Academy Coach Nathan Croswell.
This event is another strong commitment from Melbourne United Basketball Club in supporting young people from multicultural communities. This was just one part of an ongoing connection between the Club and young people from multicultural communities that has included visits to schools, player education and the co-design of the Multicultural Festival.
